Too Little Too Late

Muslim leaders today made an apparent effort to "calm" the sutuation over the cartoon parodies of Mohammed printed by a Danish newspaper and reprinted at various other papers by sighting that "It is alright to demonstrate but not resort to violence". I am a little consfused... A few days ago it was "Put to death anyone who defames the Prophet" from protesters as they lit buildings on fire and fire bombed rescue trucks, and almost complete silence from the greater Muslim community who now calls for this more peaceful solution. My feeling is that this new found peace talk is just lip service after the fact, too little too late. The leaders of the Muslim community should have been out in force from day one shouting this peaceful message from the rooftops instead of giving their silent approval. If this article confirms anything for me it is that Muslim leaders are either incapable or unwilling to speak out against things like this at a time when it really matters. Another great example would be the Paris riots where the greater Muslim community was also relatively silent until most of the damage had already been done.
