Hollywood grows a conscience??

Say it ain't so folks. Bravo though to those of the Hollywood elite that still have a spiritual compass and still read it now and again. I saw the below article this morning and it made me think

Brokeback broke?

The writer who's vitriolic attack on anyone who won't screen and/or consider this movie for Oscar contention is telling in two ways. One is that he/she (hard to tell) makes it very obvious that the point of this movie was not art in film making, but to advance a pro homosexual agenda disguised as art. Two, that Americans, yes even Liberal hollywood elite Americans when push comes to shove still know in their heart of hearts that there is something inherrantly morally bankrupt in homosexuality.

It has worked though to an extent, and may still more if this movie wins even one award on oscar night other than best original score. I have been alrarmed to see the media in droves lauding this movie and telling of rave box office postings around the country as this is simply not true. Its worldwide gross thus far is under 60,000,000 in 54 days. To put that in perspective Bareback's other (Not nominated for best picture) competitor "Walk The Line" grossed roughly the same amount within 10 days. Is it a victory for closet homosexual cowboys the world over? Maybe... but it is still far from being a box office smash hit, the "Best Picture" of 2005, or even a realistic look at true and deep love as its supporters claim. A movie like this makes me long for films about young women boxers being euthanized. That, my friends, pretty much sums it up!
