Freedom is one of our most precious gifts from God and sometimes we take it for granted. But it is important to remember that this gift did not come without a price. Many people lost their lives some 200 years ago and many are losing their lives even today as we celebrate. The ideals that this country were founded on and our continuing ideal of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness define what is great about our country. The sacrifice we are willing to make when we see people in trouble, the inherent hope we have from birth, the beauty and importance we place on love & family are all reasons why we are a people and a country set apart by God. So today make sure to honor our brave heros and their sacrifice, and take some time today to honor God and the providence that makes your particular celebration possible!! That is the line pronounced by the "new" movie Superman. Quite deliberately according to its writers, "We were always hesitant to include the term 'American way' because the meaning of that today is somewhat uncertain," Ohio native Dougherty explains. "The ideal hasn't changed. I think when people say 'American way,' they're actually talking about what the 'American way' meant back in the '40s and '50s, which was something more noble and idealistic." Rea-He-He-He-Heaaaallly Mr Dougherty? Well, he is right about one thing, America has changed. The problem with his statement is our ideals have not. A statement like that of the above polarizes the view of certain groups of Americans who frankly do not believe in "The American Way"unless it includes social welfare programs, gay marriage, a state run health care system and abortion on demand. People who have been born of parents that worked their hardest to destroy it and raised them up to believe that our country, rather than being a force for justice, truth and goodness in the world, is a corrupt, self seeking invader, complete with stolen elections, unjust wars and attempted theocracy. Idealistic is the $10.00 word in that sentence. In fact it is not the American Way ideal that has changed, it is simply that Mr. Dougherty and people like him do not accept "The American Way" as the best way, the right way or the most humane way of government or nationality. The American way still means the same thing it did when Supe first dawned the American Flag during the cold war, when he beat up on Nazis in the forties. But because their liberal ideal will not draw a moral equivilent between Hitler, Stalin and Bin Laden or Hussein, because certain in our generation will not call sin by its name, because these same people view the masculine, ass kicking Superman as a cavedwelling thug who's image is not only politically incorrect, but as Mr Dougherty infers, even obsolete...

We get this, pansy metrosexual looking guy, saying "Truth, Justice and all that Stuff"

Sen. Barack Obama is talking big talk about "courting evangelicals" for the democratic party, he says that faith should not be left at the door concerning politics, but says that right wing leaders "must accept some ground rules for collaboration" and recognize the importance of the separation of church and state. He also goes on to tout his own faith and makes fun of election year Christians in his own party giving the example, "Nothing is more transparent than inauthentic expressions of faith: the politician who shows up at a black church around election time and claps - off rhythm - to the gospel choir." He speaks in generalities mostly and fails to acknowledge the issues that keep most devout evangelicals away from the Democratic party in the first place. The largest issues of faith that come into political play right now are Abortion and the Homosexual agedna both of which the Senator supports as you can see here and here. In my mind the Obama saying "importance of seperation" means very broadly that whatever faith issues he disagrees with are out of bounds but those that he doesn't are ok. I respect the mans right to seek our lord and saviour in his own way and by God's own timing he may find Him. But it is disingenuous of him to "court" evangelicals by faith in common, without really addressing the issues that are most important to them. So in closing Senator Obama I have this to say regarding your new found revelations...

I had to include Howie in this as well after I saw this. The Dems must be serious about this evangelical thing or they would not be going to so much trouble. The problem as I described above you see is that they want you to see the cute, furry little puppy while ignoring the 800lb gorillas in the democratic room. Dean in this article says things like "This is a moral nation, and we want it to be a moral nation again." Huh? And "we need to come together around moral principles, and I'm talking about moral principles like making sure no child goes to bed hungry at night." In a comment on Deans appearance at the religious conference in Washington, D.C., Tuesday Republican National Committee spokesman Josh Holmes rightly points out “It's nice to see that Howard Dean's hostility to the religious community ends when people of faith vote Democrat. Which is exactly right on the money and the major problem the Dems are going to have in 06 and 08. The fact is people of real faith don’t vote Democrat and people like Howard Dean, Al Gore,Nancy Pelosi,Ted Kennedy,Chuck Schumer, and Hillary Clinton are the reason they don’t, not the liberal's lack of communication on the "faith" issues they believe to be important.

The answer to that would be yes according to "Dr. Breedlove" of Michigan State University. He and others conducted a study that they say shows that if you have an older brother(s) you are more likely to be homosexual. Yes, you heard that right, they also say this lends to the theory that homosexuality is biological and not conditional or environmental. He says his "study" disproves these things on the basis of it being conducted on Brothers who were related and not related which sounds very week to me considering he only used 944 subjects to begin with. I got this story of Yahoo and it is from the AP. Big shocker there huh? The conclusions these men draw are strange, at best and do nothing at all to prove anything but that approx 5% of 944 men who had older biological brothers were gay. In addition it does not go into their mental health, their social and familial environment and does not account for abuse or the lack thereof. Very weak if you ask me. But typical from a crowd that has no other mission in life than to prove gay people were born that way.

First, Mat Staver of the public law firm Liberty Counsel is in Washington today testifying in favor of HR 2679, legislation that would prevent the likes of the ACLU from collecting legal fees in the case of adverse rulings regarding public display of the 10 Commandments and religious symbols.

If you have not signed the two petitions linked on our web site to urge Congress to reform Establishment Clause litigation, please do so today by going here. And contact your Congressmen to support HR 2679 which is sponsored by Rep. John Hostettler of Indiana.

This legislation is currently in this House subcommittee with no immediate plans to bring it to the floor for a vote. It needs to be passed out of committee to get to the floor. Therefore, we need you to contact your elected officials which you can locate by going here.

There is currently no sponsor of this legislation in the U.S. Senate. I urge you to contact your senators, especially if they are conservative and Republican, to urge them to sponsor this bill in the Senate. We need to get this bill passed and signed into law so the ACLU and similar groups will be unable to collect in such cases which are determined simply because someone was offended. It is not a perfect bill. It would be better if the likes of the ACLU was blocked from being able to sue to begin with or if the legislation included a "loser pays" which would also make the ACLU think about filing the cases. But it's an excellent start.

Secondly, you may not be aware of this but the ACLU is being sued under RICO laws by one of our supporters. You can read about Bobby Wightman-Cervantes case by going here, then clicking the ACLU link on the page and then reading the PDF report inside that link. I encourage you to read the complaint and share this with others who despise the ACLU.

Bobby told Stop the ACLU yesterday that he expected to serve ACLU Executive Director Tony Romero with legal papers this morning with other ACLU personnel being served in due course.

Suing the ACLU is a tall order and an uphill battle but we believe this is a very good start, regardless of the outcome. We support Bobby in his efforts to rein in this Communist organization.

Senate Defeats Iraq Withdrawl Plans

No...Oh and in case it wasn't clear the first time NO!!! Non!! Nada!! Niet!! Nein! Nr!!! 不!!! いいえ!!

The Senate shot down a second Democratic proposal to start moving US troops out of Iraq today. The vote was 60-39, not even close. The vote on the first resolution was 86-13, even worse. I am trying to figure out what purpose they have in mind by doing this? They can't be expecting these things to actualy pass, so that leaves political posturing or plain stupidity. Both of which seem plausable when you consider we are dealing with the likes of Murtha, Kerry, Pelosi, Durbin, etc... It seems this will galvanize the issue, a large gamble when you consider elections are only 5-6 months off and over half of America believes we need to "stay the course", a term that Bush has been repeatedly ridiculed for using. I think the stock Dem quote these days is "Stay the course is not a strategy" or something of that sort. Americans are divided fairly evenly on whether to set a timetable for withdrawl, but almost none (under 2%) say "get out now". If you look at this logicaly, honestly does anyone really believe that Kerry and pals think things are going to be better if we pull out and let the Iraqis fend for themselves right now, in one year, in three? They tell us from one side of their mouths how bad everything is, but then tell us its ok to leave. They say we have not trained enough Iraqi soldiers, then they say we should let them fight on their own??? I had a comment the other day from a gentleman who was trying to say I didn't get the Dems message because I linked to the GOP talking points and said what anyone with any sense already knows. The Democrats have no unified message and certainly do not have a viable plan to lead. There are actually polls out that say if the election was held today Republicans would lose the house and maybe the senate also. Now I am no big fan of the GOP lately, but imagine what handing over the controls to Nancy Pelosi would mean. I get chills to think of people whose moral compass reads a constant South having control over our congress. People if there is one things the last 6-7 years have done, they have allowed enough time for the liberal wing of the Democratic party to rear up its ugly head for the entire country to see. Don't believe me? Here are just a few of the statements you may or may not remember from the last 7 years:

World Cup Update /Preview

Well Group A is decided with Germany and Ecuador advancing easily and Group B in the books as well with England and Sweden advancing. Group Standings as of today.

USA will be in action again on Thursday with Ghana. Both needing a win and a little help from the Czech vs. Italy game to advance. Funny the way things shake out... Ghana are missing their two goal scorers and the US is missing two (or at least one) top defenders. So, what are the USA's chances? Good question. In my mind it all comes down to which team shows up. If it is the timid, slow, lathargic team that got pummeld against the Czech Republic then they will be pummeld yet again without doubt. But if it is the "nail spitting" team that played Italy we may just have a shot. Bruce Arena has taken a defensive posture throughout the tournament that has resulted in 0, yes 0 goals in 2 games played. He will have to change something on Thursday if he hopes to beat Ghana and/or make up any of the -3 goal difference the US face heading into this match. Mt preference is an attacking lineup...See below

Why Faith Issues are Important

I felt the need to clarify this after I read this & this today and a fine gentleman left a comment on one of my posts. He linked to his own blog so I went and took a look and his most recent dealt with that fairly directly and in the process derided "Right Wing" Christians for standing on some principles over others. Particularly faith based issues including Gay Marriage, Abortion, etc... He wanted to know why things like that are more important than say, Iraq, or World Hunger, or the Environment for example. My hope is to give him and all of you visiting today a good answer to that question. Lets start with abortion and why it is important to stand on the biblical principle that all human life is precious, created and blessed of God. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that this gentleman is a Catholic Seminary Student.

Abortion should be important to true Christians for the very reason that a basic right to live and have life more abundantly is crucial to our faith. Without that right all others are meaningless. But to go a bit farther it should be especially important to Christians to reach those who might be candidates for abortion. Specifically those who believe that indiscriminate sex with whomever, whenever you want is a plausable moral grey area. Even a "life choice", to use the common phrase. To be more direct, abortion is an important issue because of the sin that brings them about. No, not just the physical act of intercourse. Sin is born an idea and this idea begins as a thought.

Let me digress for a moment though and expand this to include Gay Marriage as well as my larger point of importantce and relevance deals with both equally and both are born equally of the same moral breakdown.

Families... as God intended them Genesis 2:22 or 2:24 . It starts with individuals & familes, the enemy's primary target as it relates to you, an individual is to steal, kill and destroy you and thereby destroy your family. Once the family is destroyed, a community suffers, when a community suffers a city may suffer, when a city suffers, a county may suffer, when a county suffers, a state may suffer, when a state suffers, etc... I am sure you get the point. Now while this is a generalization, it is the very reason why these two faith issues are and should be important to Christians. In battle, you protect your fortress, your foundations first, then move out from there.

It is simple really, the basic principles our God laid out for us and His instruction manual are just that. None of us are perfect, but these are meant to be followed and obeyed when at all possible. He gave us everything we need to live, we need only believe Him and laid hold of them.

Presbyterian Church opens door to gay clergy: From Reuters

Kim Clayton Richter of the Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, a member of the same group, said it's wrong to interpret the Bible literally on homosexuality.

"You cannot pick out two or three passages to prove your point. You have to look at the whole witness of Jesus Christ. We've changed our mentality on slavery and the role of women. We have to change with reality," Richter said.

Ok, now in unless I am mistaken there are only two or three passages in the bible that even speak to homosexuality and all of them say the same thing...Its not ok with God! As for the witness of Christ in its fullness, Jesus never mentioned homosexuality as he did the other portions of the OT that he meant to improve upon or elaborate on, He left the subject alone entirely. Which if we relate this to other portions of scripture in the NT can only mean he believed it to be a settled matter. See Christ's own words regarding the old laws:
Matthew 5:17-20 says clearly

17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished."

As for Mr. Richter's comments about slavery and the role of women, changing with reality, etc... Hank Hanegraaff from http://www.equip.org sums it up very clearly,

I got a comment that I want to address , the gentleman states:

"Life begins at the state of consciousness. Therefore, to take an unborn life requires that the unborn be aware of it's existance. It is not. Why?

The spirit or soul, if you prefer, does not entered into the flesh while the embryo is still in a growing state of being. Conciousness can only occure after the embryo is fully formed and in which the spirit then enters. The process of birth begins.

I hope this helps you to understand that abortion is not and never was a sin. The spirit or soul is never harmed and may wait for another time to be reborn."

First let me say, Reborn? LJ must be a New Ager or something but that is really beside the point. The real misconception is his/her first statement. That Consciousness is the key to when "Life" begins. Or maybe what they were trying to say is, life is not important unless it has a soul attached? Either way that assumption (and that is what it is) makes no sense. "Life" begins at conception or implantation, that is a medical fact. Most Christians believe that a life contains a soul from that point on, or at least has a soul intended for it. Regardless, the point still stands, all Human Life is precious in God's sight and therefor should not be killed off. The idea that when an abortion occurs the soul gets told, "well sorry maybe next time charlie" is ludicrous and a poor justification for taking a human life. Sorry LJ, good answer, but its WRONG!!

I have heard all kinds of predictions about lineups and stratgey, etc... for the US team today. My personal hope is for DMB to ride the pine and Dempsey and EJ to get the start. I am both apprehensive and excited to see what happens. US will need to "bring it" today if they are going to win or even scrape a tie against a powerful Italian attack.

Ghana Shocks Czech Republic 2-0

USA and Italy Draw 1-1

In a really poorly called match the USA showed the fire that sent them through to the quaters in 2002. I have to say though that the ref decided this match for us, a straight red that anyone who knows the game would say was an equalizing red card took Mastroeni out right away and we were down to 10 men. Then on a very questionable second yellow card Eddie Pope went out in the 46th minute to make it 10v9. I sincerely hope that apon reviewing this game someone within FIFA reprimands the center official for what was a poorly officiated game to say the least.

In the end we sat back and defended well, but with 1 substitution left and 15 minutes to play Bruce Arena left a dog tired and beat up McBride on the field in favor of EJ, Ching or Josh Wolf. I hope someone in the press core can get a good answer from him on this. Considering all the options there was no reason not to bring in some fresh offensive legs in my mind and that may have cost us 2 points and the Cup. No excuse for it for my money, but all in all I was impressed with the heart and the level of play the US team showed today and I can once again proudly support my team!!

That is a question I have found myself asking a lot lately. I went from hoping my party (republicans) would grow a pair, to disdaining them for not only failing to do that, but loping off the meager pair they had already, to looking for alternatives. Let's be honest, aside from the two new Judges who really have not been tested yet by any large issue, our senators and yes, I said it, our president have let us down for the most part on policy issue after policy issue. Let's review, Gay marriage...Nope, no teeth, Immigration...Wearing bad dentures, Respecting those who put them in office, you know that silly little thing called...

There is a great debate in the state about a proposed law to control the price of pizza. Almost everyone has a very strong opinion on the matter.

There are three candidates running for governor. The candidate who gets the most votes (a plurality) will win the election. Two of the candidates, Mr. A and Ms. B, support the Pizza Protection Bill and would sign it into law. One candidate, Mr. C, opposes (is against) the bill and would veto it.

Of the people who will vote, 60% (60 out of 100) are for the bill and will vote for a candidate who supports it. The remaining 40% of the voters are against the bill, and will vote for the candidate who opposes it.

The voters who support the Pizza Protection Bill are evenly divided as to which candidate they prefer. Half of them will vote for Mr. A; half of them will vote for Ms. B.

Based on the above information, which statement is true?

a. Mr. A will win the election.
b. Ms. B will win the election.
c. Mr. C will win the election.
d. Either Mr. A or Ms. B could win, because they both have the same position about the bill as most of the voters.
e. Mr. A and Ms. B will tie for the most votes.
f. Any of the candidates could win. There is not enough information here to predict the winner.
g. It doesn't matter who wins because none of the candidates really like pizza and they are more concerned with subsidies and repaying the lobbyists than with what their constituents want.

Yes folks the answer is "g" and they have proved it time and time again. Fortunately though the good people over at Six Meat Buffet have an answer

Murtha, Pelosi, Kerry and your ilk. Huge news today (Hat Tip Drudge) on the raids conducted following the death of Zarqawi. One document in particular lays out Terrorists plans for the near future. I was rivited, take a look. Iraq's new National Security Advisor had this to say at a press conference,

"We believe that this is the beginning of the end of al-Qaida in Iraq," al-Rubaie said, adding that the documents showed al-Qaida is in "pretty bad shape," politically and in terms of training, weapons and media. "Now we have the upper hand," he said at a news conference in Baghdad. "We feel that we know their locations, the names of their leaders, their whereabouts, their movements, through the documents we found during the last few days."

The military is also reporting that since Zarqawi was taken out they have conducted 452 raids and killed 104 insurgents

In an article out today Tom Harris from the Canada Free Press has researched the issue and found not one, not two, but "many" scientists whose field of expertise either is or very closely relates to climatology. To hear Gore talk, one might surmize that these experts should either accept the inevitable truth that we are all DOOMED!!, DOOMED I tell you!! Or be ridiculed as paid lobbyists and charlatans. I have been waiting to post about this until I had a chance to read more than just one account of the whole climate change issue and had a grasp on both arguments, but the article I read today was the kicker for me. Did you know for instance that according to paleoclimatologist Professor Tim Patterson who is not on the Bush family or any other government's payroll and is a scholar and established scientist at Carlten University had this to say,
"There is no meaningful correlation between CO2 levels and Earth's temperature over this [geologic] time frame. In fact, when CO2 levels were over ten times higher than they are now, about 450 million years ago, the planet was in the depths of the absolute coldest period in the last half billion years." Patterson asked the committee, "On the basis of this evidence, how could anyone still believe that the recent relatively small increase in CO2 levels would be the major cause of the past century's modest warming?"

Interesting when you consider Uncle Al's assertion that human emssions of CO2 are the root of all climatelogical evil eh? Or have you heard this dissenting view of Gore's assetrion that the polar ice caps are infact melting away too quickly?

Dr. Boris Winterhalter, former marine researcher at the Geological Survey of Finland and professor in marine geology, University of Helsinki, had this to say,

"The breaking glacier wall is a normally occurring phenomenon which is due to the normal advance of a glacier," says Winterhalter. "In Antarctica the temperature is low enough to prohibit melting of the ice front, so if the ice is grounded, it has to break off in beautiful ice cascades. If the water is deep enough icebergs will form."

I will let you read the entire article from Mr Harris because it is well worth the time. But consider a Gore run for President in 08, his wife says she'll support him! It would seem that Al has a lot of support from the Anti-War, Global Warning, I'm ok Your ok crowd, but will the Democratic leadership actually get behind him in light of his dive off the Global warming deep end? Maybe not, but if you think that will stop this fire breather, think again, and don't forget to check the independent ticket come November 2008. He'll be Back!!

Well, a day later and a good nights sleep I am still stinging as are many others from the US loss to the Czech's. I have been listening to and calling into the new XM Radio World Cup channel since last week (great coverage BTW) and I am hearing the same thing that I really feel, we just plain sucked out there on Monday. Well, moving on I just want to say the players deserved whatever Bruce gave them, the only thing I would blame him for at all would be the 4-5-1 lineup and for not getting Johnson on earlier or Dempsey on at all. Lame, Lame, Lame!!!! That said I have my line-up for Saturday in case Bruce reads my blog before then (yeah right!!) But hey, it is theraputic for me so let me rant...

Beasley sits for sure, Pope sits because he proved that he is too old and slow to compete like I thought from the begining and the lineup changes from a 4-5-1 to a 3-5-2.

Reality Czech!

USA Pounded by Czech Republic 3-0 in what looked to me like the worst opening game for any team in the World Cup thus far save maybe Costa Rica, but at least they scored in their 4-2 drubbing at the hands of Germany.

From the start of this match the US were outclassed, outmanned, outgunned, out matched and out played in every aspect of the game. Donovan was non-existent, Beasley was pathetic, Pope looked as old and slow as he really is and the rest were just seemingly out of their depth for most of the game. Kasey Keller can say what he wants about the new addidas ball but not even wet leather would have saved him today. My honest review of this "game" today is: The US looked and played like a second division club side against one of the worlds soccer powers, what a let down after four years of waiting! They do have two more games to make it up and advance out of their group but I think there is some astronomical figure like 1 Kajillion to 1 for a team to lose their first game and still advance. I am still an American and still a supporter but today I was embarassed to have wasted a half day of work to watch what was as one talking head called it "The Nightmare in Gelsenkirchen".

....Oh and one more thing that absolutely baffles me is how Bruce Arena brings on Josh (freakin' haven't scored a goal in 500 games) Wolf in the 71 minute instead of Demspey who has scored in something like his last 3 US caps and is a much greater threat than Wolf ever was even in his prime. Personaly, I don't even see how Wolf made this team to begin with, but what do I know, I mean there are only Twellman, Ralston, Noonan, Eskandarian, Klein, Mullan, Rolfe. Not that any of them are really up to it either but they could do the same job as Josh Wolf on any given Sunday, maybe better.

All in all it was a pretty exciting day at the Cup , the big news on the horizon is Milan Baros not being fit for the USA match on Monday. He strained a tendon in his foot and has not trained at all since. The gaffer is still unsure of his fate but says he will make a choice before the game.

England lacked creativity in the midfield which was disappointing with Lampard and Gerard both fit and playing in top form. For Ivroy Coast Drogba showed passion with a late goal but the Africans in general were not up to the massive attack of the Argentine strikers and spectacular midfield play.

Sunday brings us ever closer to the USA opener with Portugal v Angola, Mexcio v Iran and Serbia v Holland. Hope you are all having a great weekend!!!

Germany swept not so convincingly past Costa Rica 4-2 in this mornings opening match of the greatest tournament known to mankind. Wanchope and Klose were on fire for the Ticos and Germany respectively as the world watched an exciting opening match. More to come on Poland Ecuador which is now in the 63 minute with Ecuador up 1-0.

Maybe next time we should try that, yes that's it, we'll just close our eyes, point at the constitution and then whichever part we land on we'll make believe it means defense of marriage!

You know this issue was opitimized for me watching Hanity and Colmes last night. They had Ann on debating with some stock Dem Strategist and Ann asked something to the effect of "So, if they appear on the Today show, the cover of Vanity Fair, toss their hats in the political area, are they not fair game?" And all this woman could respond was (emphaticaly) "These women lost a loved one!" Which very neatly made Ann's point without her even needing to say a word more about it. Those on the far left really believe that people who have lost someone are somehow imune from critizism. Ridiculous!

When Pigs Fly!

Iranian President Ahmadinejad will apparently be coming to World Cup this summer if his team make it out of the group stages.

First lets take that at face value, Iran is up against Portugal and Mexico in group play. Though their recent form is encouraging, they will have a rough go of it getting past either of those teams playing at full tilt. So, "when pigs fly" is my prediction.

Having said that let me say this: If the leaders of Europe allow him to be received at the World Cup it will be an insult to the US and UK who have been in stark opposition to Iran's Nuclear policy, not to mention the many human rights abuses. But if I spent any time on that I would have to mention Ivory Coast, Angola and Saudi Arabia as well and I'll not go there today. Bottom line is the process, this process the EU, UK and US are following to get Iran to comply would be jilted, ever more so if he is received with any kind of pomp and circumstance as any other world leader would be. World Cup is about peace and coming together. Let's remind ourselves that this is a man who is calling for... No, actually promising the extinction of an entire race/country. "Red Card" would be too mild a penalty for the EU allowing this so called president to visit World Cup. Lets hope I am correct and we don't have to find out!

Oh and while you are at it start warming Kofi up in the bullpen cuz this has as much chance of being accepted by Iran as Saudi Arabia does of winning the World Cup this month. In the article they do not reveal the perks or the penalties, but one could assume at this point that the perks would be something to the affect of more ease in diplomatic relations with the west, trade agreements, help in providing clean nuclear energy, etc... and that penalties would be economic sanctions at this point, what shape they will take remains to be seen, but that is almost a sure thing given that we are not ready to go forward militarily just yet.

On another note, I think their estimates as to when Iran will have a bomb are very liberal to say the least. They have running centrifuges and the help of two of the most advanced nuclear nations on earth. To me 4 years seems optimistic on our part. At any rate, at least when we do go in and blow 10 or so nuclear power plant size wholes in their country, at this rate we will be able to say we exhausted all options diplomaticaly. Though no matter what the left in America will find a way to say we did not.

Kerry in his usual mix of partial sense and overt stupidity said in the above article that he would "attach an amendment to this summer's defense appropriations bill calling for a total withdrawal of U.S. combat troops by the end of this year", but went on to admit, "I know I'm not going to get the majority of my own caucus."

After beating the Venezuela and Latvia teams 2-0 and 1-0 respectively the US Mens National Soccer team is now in Germany. Did those two games convince anyone they were ready? Not sure, but they did not convince me in the least. Donovan still looks lost out there, Beasley like he doesn't give a rats @ss and John O'Brien looks good but he is still not match fit, or at least not 90 minutes match fit. The bright spots are that McBride looks as good as ever, Mastroeni will be ready, Eddie Pope surprised me, but I will wait to see what he does under some real pressure and Keller is and will remain The Man!! As to the others I would love to see Dempsey get more time than everyone thinks he will, Convey as well. I would love to see Eddie Johnson find his form again as he almost did against Latvia, but wait...That was Latvia. Cherundolo looked shakey too, but I think he'll rise to the occasion. At any rate it is time to book your time off cuz all (yes I said all) of their games are on weekdays during business hours. Hopefully everything will come together at the right time. Is this a good enough team? Yes, the best Us soccer has ever seen! The real question is not who can beat them, its will they beat themsleves? GO USA!!!

U.S. Says It's Prepared to Talk With Iran

In the diplomatic world I suppose you would say this is calling Iran's bluff, in the Chess world , a probing move to draw out your opponent and reveal his/her strategy. Whatever the case this will force Iran to make a move. If they are interested in face to face negotiations and being recognized this should suffice. If they are interested in our recognition of their rights in the nuclear community they now have that also. But they must prove that they are sincere, or prove that they are not. Either way they cannot ignore this. They could balk at our demand that they stop enrichment right away, but that would only make them look bad. It is obvious they do not trust us or the Europeans for that matter, so how honest can we count on them being? The fact that they are preparing for an invasion speaks volumes. The Mulahs rely on Ahmadinejad to keep them up to speed, but that is really irrelevant because they are zealots and he is an insane person. I wonder what Russia and China will have to say? My guess is not much, they will wait to let it play out before they make a statement. A better question is what will we do/say when Iran screws this up? I would love to be a fly on the wall in those cabinet meetings. Stay Tuned!!

Diplomats in Washington and Vienna said the US offer to hold talks with Iran was linked to an effort to get China and Russia to ease categorical opposition to UN sanctions if negotiations stalled.

The question now it seems is will Russia and China back up their words with action? I say doubtful. This is predicatable from Iran though as I believe their true motive is to stall, for as long as needed. So far they are doing a superb job of it!

That's what Memorial Day is to a lot of people. Men and Women who are too young or too old to have lost a family member during wartime, those of us who simply don't care and of course those who choose to dishonor our brave military in various ways. Bottom line is this blog will be remembering our fighting men and women today and through the weekend. Memorial Day is more than just an extra day off work or a day to BBQ with friends and family. It is those things also, but it gives me pride that I cannot even express in this great nation to remember that I have the freedom to watch my daughter play, to see my son succeed in sports, to watch....Ted Kennedy giving away the citizenship that these brave people fought and died for like it was a campaign button for the democratic party? (Sound of record needle scratching). Yes even that folks, I even celebrate the rights of windbags like that to say their piece and the right of other more... well, politically challenged Americans to agree with windbags like Mr. Kennedy.

This Freedom we have is so precious, so God given and precious that thousands of your countrymen were willing to die for it, to die so that others could know it, to give there lives for the small chance that it might spread and allow a people who have known nothing but an Iron Hand for as long as they can remember to experience liberty. So this weekend no matter what your opinion is of our president or the conflict we find ourselves in, take a moment and pause to watch your son hit that baseball, to see your daughter take her first steps and remember those who died so that you/they might live.

I have to take a break from Politics for a moment and address the abismal performacne of my mens national team at their warmup friendly on Tuesday. I watched the whole match and I can say for me it was embarrassing to say the least. We looked slow, unorganized, unmotivated, not sharp, not hungry and not like a team that is supposed to be ranked 5th in the world. (What a joke)

Lets begin with the starting lineup: Liked that O'Brien started and looked pretty sharp even. Did not like that Wolf started, I am still trying to figure out what exactly he has done to warrant a place not only on this team, but in the starting 11 to boot. His regular season last year was average, his performance in National team games was less than average. I just don't get it. Arena left Twellman (averaged 20 goals the last three seasons) and took wolf. He has players on the bech like Clint Dempsey, Eddie Johnson, Brian Ching, etc... and he starts Wolf?? Anyway, Renya pulled up with a hamstring strain early and he did not look good anyway so that was just fine with me. Pablo was a total stud in his place and deserved man of the match for the US. Did not like Gibbs at wing defense, did not like Cherundolo's performance at right back. Pope surprised me and helfd his own, but I am still very skeptical that he can do that against Italy or Czech Republic. All in all I just wanted to say, we need to wake up, cuz the fact that we just got made a fool of by a third rate African team that was missing their best players, aint saying a lot about our chances to make the second round. Note to Bruce, here is my starting 11

Not really sure what to make of this. I do not by any means claim to be a constitutional expert, nor can I speak intelligently on the legality of the FBI search. But something did occur to me in reading this article. For instance the fact that a prominent (D) Congressman has been caught bribing people and accepting bribes should mean jubilation for Hassert and Boehner. But the first thing you hear from both is not something to the effect of, what a disgrace this is, or that now the Democrats who believe there is a culture of corruption in the Republican senate should think twice. No, what you hear is "The search of the congressman's office was unconstitutional." That is curious for two reasons. One being the above stated non-response to their parties vindication and the other being their willingness to stand up, rather quickly in fact, and indirectly defend the rights of the accused congressman. My point is really implied, so let me make myself more clear. It seems to me that for whatever reason Hassert and Boehner are thinking ahead to a time when this kind of thing could happen to them, or worse. Not that any charges have been leveled or that there are even any investigations into wrong doing by these two. But, a smarter man than I once said, why complain if you have nothing to hide?
